hi fellow vw ers i have just refurbished my pic34-3 carb and it is refusing to behave start engine and get it warm choke fully off engine runing very rich no matter how i try to alter it with the volume screw or the bypass screw it still runs over rich to a point when the petrol starts to drip from the throttle spindle any ideas please
How do you know it's running rich? If fuel is running out, I'd suggest the float valve isn't closing properly. If the overflowing fuel is running out of the spindles, I'd also think these need replacing, not because of the fuel (which needs to be fixed) but because they could upset your mixture.
thanks for the reply as for how do i know its running to rich easy [plumes of over rich exhaust smoke so k now i discoverd that the lever from the choke to the throttle spindle was erm erm, shush dont tell anyone(it was put on wrong) :-[
