Petrol tank firewall out and in.

  1. Hello folks - forgot and lost my login so been TLB-less for a while. (btw the "forgot password" system didn't work...is it me??)

Anyway - found old login note and glad to be back on - currently building van up - and want to check tank and sender unit before putting engine back in. I've removed the screws around the firewall - just not sure what the best way to lever the cover off without distorting it is.

I'm sure I'm missing something obvious ? but don't like forcing things so working on the there's no stupid question principle.

Any experienced voices appreciated. lever at top? lever at bottom? stand on head and pull with teeth?

Also when sealing back up any thoughts on what best around the firewall - seam sealer?- thought maybe compressible intumescent strip?

Anyway looking forward to getting her up and running so appreciate any help.
    cheers.

  2. There are two vertical screws on either side, pointing upwards. You've probably missed them.

Boggo foam strip to stop it rattling. Doesn't have to be fireproof.

  3. I used draught excluder tape around mine to seal it up.
