So who's got their sun canopy / rain protection fixed permanently to the side of the van?
I know @Zed has a Fiamma type. Anyone else? Advantages vs Disadvantages?
I'm looking at the ARB one that Campervan Culture down in West Sussex supply (and fit if required).
I've always liked the canopy that I have, but it's not easy to put up by myself, and it does get battered by the wind. Plus it has developed a tendency to fill up with rain, and then deposit it on me when I open my sliding door in the morning.

    what do you think?

Why would you want these on the side of your van - might they not attract gulls and vermin?

But it's green and it would be much better for someone with a green van .....

Blame the English language, not the user.

We bought a 2nd hand ARB off here after trying several normal ones over the years and love it. If I had the money the Fiamma wind out ones are easier and a bit more sturdy

There must be some comedy mileage in your existing one when it rains, be a shame to loose that, don't you think?

I have a small home-made cantilevered canopy that doesnt need legs or guy ropes.. just about keeps the rain out of the open sliding door, or the sun out.
Also stands up to gale force winds. Clipped_image_20240417_164631.png

  16. I like those awnings. First noticed one or something very similar on the side of @nicktuft s van at Volksworld maybe ten years ago .
Just buy it and we can all call you a flash git ...

I use a sun umbrella way less hassle and the base also holds my westfalia table top so can use that outside too

Fair play, but please see previous comment about massive dog ;)
Serious though, whilst I like small and portable, I do need (and like) outdoor space for the dawg, and also to sit under with friends if it decides to chuck it down.
