I'd go with @Razzyh 's idea, gaffer tape or Gorilla tape on the inside. It'll stay put and much easier to go back to gas if needed in the future.

  2. Gorilla tape might work (tends to be waterproof). Or glue a metal patch on.

It'll be behind the newly acquired fridge, so not really an option to open and close it.
I like having a built in fridge, so it's out of the way... and the old one is getting past it's best, so having talked about replacing it for about 3 years, I'm finally doing it!
To be fair, it chucks out quite a lot of heat itself, so I'd be surprised if the new one is any worse.

I might speculatively see if some form of open/close lever could be worked through from the cupboard next to it.....

I do quite like this idea... although I think my cold water pump set up might be a bit basic to cope with additional extras.
Worth a thought for when I win the premium bonds and refit the interior though......

I'm assuming that the tube that seems to stick through will be the exhaust hose from the gas fridge, and that it will come out when I remove the fridge.
Hopefully it won't be quite the tin-opener job that @Merlin Cat found with hers... I think this was fitted after Devon had their grubby mitts on the roof, so with luck it'll be a more professional job??!

I'll definitely be leaving the vent cover on the outside, so as long as the hole is safe from damp, draughts, water ingress etc, all will be good.
I like the idea of glued plastic (rather than messing around with metal), or maybe an oen/close vent cover if I can get enough access to make use of it.

Thanks chaps, you've certainly given me food for thought in advance of the weekend :)

  6. I didn't need my Devon vent for the fridge, and replaced it with a socket for a mains hookup. Not a problem, as Devon (typically) had cut the hole using an old spoon, so quite big enough.

Get sticking! You are the Goddess of Glue

Expanding foam. Cut off the excess and sand it all flush.

I would pop the cover off and fill the vent holes from the inside by bending a piece of aluminum around the inside of the plastic cover and fixing by the same screw holes that attach vent to van - can easily be removed, won’t rust and will stop the wind blowing through. Looks ok on the outside of the van why make life difficult

The massive excitement of finishing my jigsaw, whilst taking part in the great garden bird watch (a robin, a pigeon and two gold finches so far) and putting off going out into the cold to start taking out the fridge.....
