Can anyone please tell me what year part no. 214 843 341B is off?
It's a complete middle sliding door mechanism I had in a box of spares that I've just cleaned up.
    Cheers

Yep, that looks like the one!
Is it different from a non Aussie bus then?

No - other than being fitted upside down.

    Cheers Mr V

  7. Is £150 really the going rate for one of these?

I've seen them go for more than that.
You don't seem to be able to buy rhd ones anymore (that I can find) and a repro lhd is £190 at Heritage!
I'll hang on to it me thinks.

  9. Think I might floy my spare - spare one then and keep my spare one.

I edited it after you posted. I've seen them go for more than £150. RHD new used to be over £300 iirc so £150 is a bargain!

There are two different types to these RHD versions.

I only found that out as I got 1 and it was different to my one - I'll see if I can find the difference.

So I couldn't find the difference but here are the 2 different part numbers

    214843341b

    214843339a

I needed the 339a version a few months back.

If memory serves correctly the difference is something to do with the way it catches the van and swings open/closed - the two things on a spring.

I reckon @vwed is our man.
Any idea what the difference is kind sir?

  14. The first point to make is that the part number you are discussing is not for the complete hinge mechanism. It is for the part that it is stamped on only, referred to by VW in their parts books/microfiches as a "support".
The picture below shows a NOS LHD hinge unit (that passed through my hands) with its original box with the part number 211 843 336 C.
For RHD the part numbers for the whole hinge mechanism are 214 843 335 B up to chassis number 216 2030 412, and 214 843 335 C from then on.
Part number 214 843 339 A is for the RHD support up to chassis number 216 2030 412, 341 B is from then on.

  15. That's a Split Bus parts book. The sliding door hinge mechanism was different.

Excellent but was there any difference between the two RHD apart from chassis number?

I knew you'd be our man!
I've got what you've pictured there.

If you've got what pictured then that's no good to you as he said that was for a LHD

  19. I'm not sure on this point.
I've got a 341 B here at home in a box, but not a 339 A to compare it with.
The U hinge also changed at the chassis number I mentioned above, which would make sense with the support also changing. Whether the functionality of the whole hinge unit is different from that chassis number, like I say I'm not sure.
The retainer with the spring and locking lever doesn't change either.
I've yet to come across a discussion on forums saying that the two aren't interchangeable.
Have you got any pictures of the 339 A you've got?
