Panel van windows?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by southendpier, Apr 25, 2020.

  1. 79 Devon sundowner. A converted transporter. Just took out the rear windows and was under the impression they should be flat while the van sides are curved. Mine are curved. So was wondering what seals I should get. Currently 20200425_171810.jpg 20200425_171947.jpg

  2. Hi mate there the same as mine . The window glass is always curved on the panel van conversions. You have the right seals there . Cheers

  4. Curved glass is correct for a panel van and the seal you`re holding , flat glass is for a less superior factory conversion .

  5. These seals have leaked leading to some damage around the frames. Does anyone know a decent replacement seal? Also do you use adhesive? Think I might need to until I get a chance to properly replace frames

  6. ^^^^ If damage can`t be seen with the seal in place ...

    Fit the seal and window.
BEFORE you fit the filler strip run a bead of clear silicone around the seal .
Fit the filler strip before the silicone cures .

If the damage is too much , fill the damage with Isopon 2 pack filler/fibreglass , touch up paintwork and fit as above .

If you really can`t be bothered measuring the seals you took out the usual suspects will happily sell you window
    seals .........
At twice the price that don`t fit ..

  7. 3 metres per window is about right.
