Panel van glass wanted or alternative solution

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Andy Bell, Jan 12, 2014.

  1. Hi, my beloved converted panel van was the victim of someone else's poor reversing. I have straightened the panel but need a replacement glass. Any suggestions where I can source some? Alternatively if anyone has any experience of fitting a louvre window into the panel van aperture I would love to learn more.
    Cheers

I'd be interested in this too. My windows look to be too thin for any seals I can get so I'm looking to get some new windows at some point.

  8. Hi Beaver,
What type of window did you get? Did you modify the aperture? A louvre is my preferred solution but happy to take what I can get.

  9. Have a look at www.partsemporium.co.uk

They always seem to have panel van glass in stock. EDIT - just looked - £30 each.

SECOND EDIT - I have a louvre in mine. Look out for Devon ones.

  10. i have a full set from a converted panel van, (curved glass).
how does £80 the lot sound?
collection from county durham.... wouldnt like to rely on a courier to handle with care.

  11. It was already in the van so no idea where it came from originally. We did a resto on the van including repairing the window holes then put the old windows back in.

It looks like a devon style window but I'm not sure if it's different to what they'd put in a factory windowed van.

I can get you a picture at some point, but the van's tucked away in the corner of the workshop under a cover and I can't get at it just yet.

We've got a t3 ex-panel in for frame repairs at the moment and that's got a sliding window in opposite the sliding door.

  12. I can get pictures of the t3 if it helps

  13. Hi
    hi Taypic,
That sounds tempting, but i am in Devon. Though I could ask my old mum in Darlington to pick them up. I will check out some local options and get back to you. Are they triplex? I have learnt through this forum that there are various
sizes, but triplex was the most common.

Damn, missed out again! I've got glass I cant seem to give away!

2 x triplex curved panel van conversion bits, think they're both rear side bits, free to anyone who collects!

Hi @Kruger what dimensions are these (inc thickness)? I'm still trying to figure out what to do with my windows.

1090 x 386mm, not sure on thickness, but think they are thick! possibly laminated as they're heavy, definately Triplex curved though.

Send me a pm if interested, they're not in A1 condition, might have overspray, the odd scratch or grinder spark splatter, not sure if they are etched, but they are free!

Sorry for the thread hijack!
