Panel card blanks between wheel-arch panel and back of van?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by MaryJane, Mar 18, 2015.

  1. Following a long and winding resto Daisy is finally close to being back on the road and the interior work is starting up. We're doing most of the interior ourselves and I'm starting with trimming up DIY panels for the rear (having treated myself to some lovely posh ones from BAT for the cab).

Does anyone know of anywhere that sells cards that fit between the wheel-arch panel and the tailgate? All the sets I've seen don't seem to provide anything that fit this space, feel like I'm being dim and missing something obvious. If no-one sells them, can I make them myself? Would love to hear from someone that knows how.

    Thanks :D

PS. Daisy is a panel conversion if that's relevant.

  2. Folk don't seem to do them - maybe I'm wrong - just the panels in front of the rear whell arches. I made my own on the LHS out of hardboard.

  3. the guy I bought mine from on ebay provided some .......but they didn't go all the way to the back (ended at the bulge for the fuel filler in the cargo area) - he might be able to make some to suit?

.....like snotty, I'm going to make mine myself, they are a pretty straightforward shape

  4. I think Newton Commercial do them

  5. Ask @Keith.H, I seem to remember him having/making/finding/stealing some.

I made mine out of hardboard as well. Start with cardboard to get the shape right first and when your cardboard template fits properly draw around it onto the hardboard.

  7. If you've got carpet inside, directly glueing them to the fuel pipe hump is about the only way.

  8. yea, its a difficult area, I'm not going for carpet as it wont fit with the rest of the van

I'm planning on making a 'horse shoe' cut out in the hardboard (I believe originals were like that), and then covering the whole panel so the area/material over the fuel filler hangs off the panel

  9. Wow, thanks for all the responses!

If it was a flat shape I'd be more confident about tackling myself, but I'm a bit nervous of the fuel filler bulge. Thanks chad, I have now found some on Newton Commercial, just need to try and colour match them to the rest. Cheers :D

  10. I made this panel out of thin (20 SWG ) then covered it. Bent nicely around the fuel pipe hump, attached with self tappers and cup washers.
