Try Wagenswest Drop Spindles Alex, they give a superb ride, as good as stock but you then try driving down country lanes (with 65 profile tyres up front) - that's when the problems occur & in Notts and Derbys, they're a plenty

We swapped stock Boge dampers for KYB Gas a justs & that improved it somewhat but still had issues as I mentioned earlier up in this thread!

  3. Alex do you mind if i ask what testing has been done on these ? are they TUV tested ? i`m guessing the originals are drop forged yet these are cast steel ?
    cheers

  4. Yes you can ask anything you like.

They are manufactured by Vintage Autohaus in France under the French Slammer Brand.

I know they have been devolping these for 5 years or so alongside Pascal from Serial Kombi and they have had them on full weight busses doing thousands of miles to prove them.

I dont think they are TUV registered.

  5. I would of thought for Heritage to sell them they would need some sort of Lab testing /destruction testing /material certs etc .....i know @Joker knows his stuff or what should be done testing wise .I`m not saying they`re not up to it at all but i would feel more comfortable knowing they had some industy standard testing behind them

  6. Understood, They probably have been tested, but I have given you all the facts I know rather than me guessing, In the mean time I looking into it and will let you know what I find.

Its taking a while to get the info as it's a bank holiday in France today.

Id have thought in the first instance, the baseline material would have been subject to Finite Element Analysis and a series of fatigue and tensile tests before the design was approved, just to confirm they are structurally sound. We (as in HBM) can do all of this, as can Niall.
As a follow on, the prototype drop spindles should be tested to destruction on a full scale component test (fully assembled beam with steering/suspension components) with RLD played back through the test rig, again to destruction with overloads periodically placed in the data.
Once this is satisfied, Id have thought then only can you sell a product that you can deem safe!

Our Labs aren't as comprehensive as Jokers as Fatigue & Durability Software is our bread and butter, we have been known to fully instrument the odd Airbus A380 mind :D
