Which ones are the originals - the stainless steel types ? Found some that are very bowed and others that sit closer to the roof. I am a bit of a rookie at these having had a Moonraker for many a year with no space for a rack Any suggestions as to which one ?
Have a bit of a Google, set to images before selecting various ones to see what the descriptions are like? Should start to get an idea from that I'd say. https://www.google.com/search?q=original vw bay roof rack&tbm=isch&ved=2ahUKEwiUgNyrw8zlAhUY_xoKHcSLDiYQ2-cCegQIABAC&oq=original vw bay roof rack&gs_l=mobile-gws-wiz-img.3...32944.34067..34873...0.0..0.90.389.5......0....1.........33i10.rjSQhonMk8Y&ei=dfy9XdTxGpj-a8SXurAC&bih=512&biw=360&client=ms-android-motorola&prmd=sivn
Depends which type you like the look of. Stainless rack will probably last longer as theres no wood to rot. The westfalia style curved racks with the wooden slats like these have been options since the 60s. Metal tubular ones were options at the same time too.
This one might not be the most attractive, but it's period correct for a 70's bay. I have seen a Devon press shot with this. I have one on Filmore, just fits in front of the pop top. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https://www.ebay.co.uk/ulk/itm/153272627546 Sent from my ONEPLUS A6013 using Tapatalk
I like the look of that but it looks like stuff would slide off easily if its not tied down really tight.
