im tarting up the engine a little, took the alt mount off, with oil filler attached. the oil filler spins on the mount but wont come off. The PO had also put some rubber sealent around the join (dont know why) i can paint both whilst they are together, ie mask on up paint the other etc. do i NEED to get them apart to seal them properly or is it ok being able to spin. from my understanding this isnt pressurised so it shouldnt matter too much?
Well, it is pressurised in a way, as there're crankcase fumes being pumped up it. The top's held onto the bottom by a big screw-type thing with tabs on it. You can get a tool to remove them.
