Oh happy days! I've found the heat!

  1. Whilst routing around under the R&R, trying to make space for Propex, battery, hook up, inverter, etc etc. I removed the 'false floor' and found two small cut back vent pipes, further investigation revealed they're connected to the main heating system from the engine and that ALL the air blown from there was going to heat a space of about 2" under my R&R bed!!!! (Nicely warming the dead spider and 2 cents (US) that I also found under there)
2 plastic caps and a bit of silicone later and I have for the 1st time ever felt a mildly warm waft of air in the general windscreen area, OH HAPPY DAYS! :D

  2. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

I could see the same problem... I think you can get screw on caps for them but I couldn't be bothered to hunt some out and also didn't see the need to keep under the bed. :)

  3. False floor? Iv missed this, where abouts is it?

  4. It's something the PO had put in when he fitted the R&R, I'd never noticed how high it was until I cut into it and realised what was below. Good news all round for me. Heating solved and extra room for all the keck I've got to get under there. :)

  5. yay great stuff rejoyce in the warmth dude

  6. Just finished welding up the outlets on the heat exchangers and I must say I'm very impressed with the amount of heat being pumped in the cab now. Just goes to show stock heating works well when it's all fitted properly without leaks.

  7. I keep telling people this but it feels like people dont belive me lol

Most busses have repro heat exchangers and leaks in the system so the standard heating has got a bad name over time

  8. Same with Beetles but even repro Danish heaters and no air leaks in the system they can melt your shoes if not careful!

Obviously the Bay takes longer as its a larger space but you need Insulation for the nation!

  9. My Beetle keeps warm enough even with cheapo parts.
I think the Bus will now I've found the "extra" vents. :)
