  1. 1600 twin port (Type 3 car engine I think)

  2. Shame. I have a couple of spare T4 heads.
Don't give up on yours yet though, like daisy said above, I'm sure a machine shop could do it for you.

  3. Pillar drill and a diamond drill bit. It will come out but you have to be steady, hence the pillar drill. Most machine shops will get that out in a jiffy.

  4. No worries :)

I think my deadline of putting the engine back in on the 9th March is looking more and more unrealistic!

  5. Looking at the pic. Maybe you could try going in with a smaller drill 2-3mm, you may find it a bit easier. Then work your way up to the tapping size.

  6. Small update - A local garage recon they can do it for me and if they can't they know someone who can. Dropping it off tomorrow so hopefully I'm still on track to get the engine back in the van on the 9th!

  7. Nothing's ever simple is it mate. :(
Hope you get sorted for the deadline.

  8. How did you get on?

  9. Took it to the garage, they couldn't do it so sent it to a specialist.

They had to cut the head open and weld it back up!

It's now bolted back on to the engine which is in the van and running!

  10. yay great news:thumbsup:

How much did they charge you to sort the head?

  11. £85 which I though was ok....better than buying a new head!

  12. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    Davidoft's selling a new one for £100...
£85 eek. I'm sure I'd have got it out. :D

  13. Jesus. At least it's all sorted now though.
