what do you want the big socket for ? you only need it to replace the rear wheel bearings really

  14. After mot and spring camp ill be stripping the back end completely to clean up and paint it all and regrease the bearings whilst im at it

  19. Couldn't get my nuts off for love or money. Even asked the local garage to pop round. Bloke laughed got out his snap on breaker bar and said no problem! after he nearly tipped the bus off the axle stands he admitted defeat!

Spent nearly 5 hours trying to get them off, ended up taking 5 mins to drill the nut an then splitting them with a cold chisel. Just wished I did that in the first place and saved all the agro.

VW torqued them any where between 210 ftlb and 260ftlb's so you may find it easier to buy new castle nuts and drill and split the old.

  20. Cheers for the heads up martin ill bear that in mind
