Looks like they got the captions wrong this week...this is described as a comedy...I checked twice, deffo says comedy. It's not funny. At all.
I was hoping for a smile, maybe something to lift ones heart....I didn't hope to ascend the mountain of comedic delight, to revel at the peak of hilarity, no, nothing that ambitious... Instead of comedy, I got trite low brow humour based on mocking the vulnerable and that's about it. No wit, no wry observation...not even anything remotely ironic, I'd have settled for slapstick. Utter crap.
I don't think it's as bad as all that, but that's how I'm seeing it. I don't necessarily see it mocking vulnerable people either. The funniest character is the nurse herself I think, not without her own issues but trying to help vulnerable people who either don't actually want her help because they don't see themselves as having a problem or don't understand the support she's trying to give. It's a shame because I really like Paul Whitehouse, but it's a bit of a vehicle for him to put on prosthetic make up. It's a decent attempt but it doesn't quite work. The best healthcare based comedy of recent times was Getting On, the ward based one with Jo Brand and Joanna Scanlon, also on the BEEB.
That's my point - having had a fair deal of experience with people with mental health issues - this could have been way better, there are many brilliant people out there that shine in the darkest of times - there is a lot of humour in those moments. Plainly the writers have zero experience of this area of society - and obviously no nursing experience. This is just unfunny crap - I'm guessing Paul Whithouse had some prosthetics left over from the Aviva adverts maybe.
No worries, its a long time dead so dont waste your alive time winging about things out of your control.Sage Advice.
Not really - how do you make the world a better place if you don't question what you get (see my sig line).
I could do with some sage advice, well some herb advice in general. Its that age old question that has puzzled men of learning for millennia......how much dried herbs do you use when the recipe says fresh?
It sounds like what the BBC put on late night R4 under the title of comedy which I find not funny at all. Maybe I'm too old for that type of comedy. I might look at it to see how bad it is.
you cant go around blaming stuff on people ,BTW I've gone of felicty Kendall and moved on to that young chick Liz Hurley, she's 20 years younger
