Anyone got a single head bolt for a 1600 and would be happy to go to post it at this point in time?

It will save me buying a full set

  2. 8mm or 10mm and also how long as they vary ?

Ooh. Don’t know - will check the one that fell out tomorrow , I thought they’d be the same for some reason , but guess they changed throughout the years didn’t they

  4. On your engine you will have some longer studs and some shorter ones. If I remember correctly its the top two middle studs that are shorter on each side.

    It’s 8mm and 220mm long folks

  6. Got a load here, new and old, no 220mm though !!!

How did it "fall out". This may relate to whether it needs a little more than just screwing in a new one.

I had a ‘blowing’ noise last year , thought it was the exhaust , it wasn’t - someone did to check valve adjustment and I found that the lower bolt ( nearest to the rear) had sheared off at the casing and just pulled out though the head .
God knows how it sheared , not my doing anyway , either over tightened on assembly or the engine was dropped by the last people to remove it when the fuel tank was replaced shortly after I bought the camper ( I strongly suspect this to be the case)

hopefully this is the reason for the blowing noise

No probs , thanks for looking into it for me , I reckon a local chap may be coming to rescue

  10. Let me know if he hasn’t because I have.
You may end up needing to drill out and put a case saver in , if the case isn’t cracked around it!

  11. No worries !! I guess there is only a couple that size ??

Here you go Mike , the offending article , it was definitely blowing around that stud as well

Looks to be a case of drilling and hopefully just use a stud extractor set - fingers crossed

  14. You might be lucky and be able to wind it all the way through, [IMG]

Or try a left handed drill bit!

Knowing my luck I’d drop it in the engine
