Non starter

  1. Hi folks

So after a few weeks not even looking at her, I tried to start it up and wouldn't even tick over. I tried a mates jump starting kit and still nothing. Thinking maybe I have not connected up properly to battery terminal but had a question:

I've got an electronic ignition. If there is a problem with that would it still tick over or am I definitely having a battery issue?

    Many thanks for any help.

  2. I'd give the battery a good charge and try again, ignition problems wouldn't stop it winding over.

  3. Ok thanks. At least I know where I stand as far as the ignition is concerned. I hope you're right about it just needing charge after the lack of attention. Don't want to have to buy a new battery at the moment.

  4. If when you turn the key there are no noises, I'd say it would be the cable connection at the battery. Try taking both cables off cleaning them and the battery terminal then put them back on making sure the leads are tight. Try to start the van! If that does not work, reach under and tighten the terminals on the starter and try to start again.

  5. When you say a mate Jump Starting kit, do you mean a battery pack, or jump leads from from your mates car?

  6. Yeah sorry. I mean a battery pack not jumper cables from another vehicle.

  7. So I was able to get this going by using jump leads from another motor. I think the battery pack didn't offer enough juice. Hope she's able to hold a charge and I don't need a new battery. Thanks for the tips though...
