Being able to tell a car from the sound of its engine. Most cars now just whirr a bit (petrol) or clatter (diesel). In the 70s most cars had a distinctive sound.
The sound of kids playing conkers on the street corners. And 'clackers' (I was never allowed them - too dangerous)! Walked my two dogs today and the common was littered with brilliant conkers. In my day they'd be off the tree and in your pocket as soon as they were big enough!
the theme tune from the daleks episodes of dr who, which made me hide behind the corner of the sofa or the theme tune from cravens newsround and the tomorrow people

hey Mablimey , did you guys get up the tree and jump up and down on the branch to shack the conkers loose ? we did until i suggested it would be better if we climbed to the very top of tree and jumped off cos body thru branches is sure to shake a lot more off! plan was to grab a lower branch before hitting the ground(i know but we was kids !) went well till one of the lads didn"t grab said/any lower branch! after that it was back to flinging sticks/shaking branches !
i miss the sound of the engine on my grandad's 1955 sunbeam motorcycle. loved that sound. mum still convinced that the reason i got a beetle was because it sounds similar
