VWH sell a CB performance full set for racing at around £50 which are said to be longer as well (standard set is a similar price), so I'm puzzled by the cost difference...what the market will swallow? Back to the square seal idea above, @mcswiggs and others, would two round seals side by side do a similar job? Edit...your post @Zed did not appear until I posted, sorry if I've asked the same question. The slow leak does annoy me so I'd be happy to try out some options, but not at £250
The extra long tubes have two additional grooves at the case end so the tube can be cut to the length required and there will still be a groove for the ‘o’ ring. Maybe two ‘o’ rings could be used?
Actually, probably not as although they don't mention engine size, the tubes also fit beetles, and as I'm extremely far from being anything remotely knowledgeable about VWs, even I don't think they ever made a beetle with a type 4 in it !
No, not as bad as that but further into the head would get the seals past some corrosion. I considered a spacer then as I was just doing one side, experimenting with more torque and expecting to be rebuilding it with some new heads I didn't bother. Turns out a couple of degrees more advance cheered it up recently. Now at 11-31 and I think I might give it another degree when I can be bothered. I'm wishing I hadn't sold my 123 tune when I was planning I'd be selling the bus. Back to farting about bending the stops again.
I haven’t looked very hard but the only alloy tubes I’ve seen for a Type 4 are from CSP. And I’m not going to buy them.
