No battery dash light

  1. Ok, have de-stressed from last night!!!

I have no alternator output, and no battery dash light ( it has worked intermittently in the past ). I have also lost the indicator light, oil light but the main beam light works . Does that dash module need to earthed to the main dash via the screws, as I am working with it pulled forwards?
I managed to tidy up the birds nest last night and remove some lashed on wiring to old auxiliaries no longer used. I have a four pin female connector under the dash housing 3 wires in and no obvious home!

Am going to crack on again this evening, but has anyone got any pointers on where to look first for my non functioning light?

    Thanks!

  2. An idiots wiring diagram for alternator / leisure battery split charge will be handy!

  3. instruments need to be earthed by a separate br0wn wire which usually connects back to the vehicle via a spade connection by the air box.

No battery light could be due to a duff alternator, but if your instruments are not getting 12V that would also stop the light working. .....have you got 12V on the black wires that loop around your instrument cluster?

The connector - is it flat with 4 spade type connectors? .....usually this is the connector for the ignition switch in the steepring coloum, but you will also have a connector in the vicinity for the indicator switch
