Had a bit of a mammoth day today. As some of you may well know I have been refitting my recon engine. Managed to get it out today, fit the thermostat and flaps and get it all back in and fire it up. Engine runs sweet which is always a good thing. In between all this I refirbed the gear linkage and fitting a recon gear box. I know I'm yet to set the headstock up properly but I can't seem to get it to find 3rd. All the other gears work well but no 3rd. I didn't have much time to mess around with it as I've been out there all day so I just thought I would throw it up here for any suggestions?!? Hopefully it just needs adjusting but is there anything else I could check? Maybe the clutch?!?
Persevere. Set up the stop plate properly. Collars properly locked on the gear linkage? Unlikely to be the clutch.
Gear linkage is fine. When its in what feels like 3rd, although it doesn't click into position like the other gears, it make a scraunching grinding sound.
Hmm. Does it graunch on the other gears (if so, tweak the clutch)? If you're certain the linkage is set up right, may be the 'box - where did you get it from?
