youve heard of a convertable but this takes it to a whole new level

did you get the dashtop sorted?

  6. yep - got a rust free one off a yank bus. Bughaus sorted it! I knew the front was bad but Im absolutely stunned at how bad it was!

there website looks impressive, are they located off the Colwick Loop Road (?) at the side of the railway lines - the main road passing Total Butler on the left which will take you to The Range & Hobbycraft

yes thats them, they had an earlybay tintop shell outside about six months or so back!

  12. they've always had a good reputation, but pricey.
i've only dealt with them once (insurance job on the bug) and the work was good but attitude left a lot to be desired.

they kept trying to tell me what my paint code was different for the bug, even though i knew what it was as i bought the paint and had it sprayed! He kept insisting it was phoenix red (it's tomato red, close but not the same) until i had to insist - this took at least 3 days of phone calls!

the chap also said that it may take a while (replacement rear valance) as the wings were probably rusted on and would need the bolts cutting. i told him they wouldn't be as i'd put them on with stainless bolt and penny washers which i copper greased before putting them on. he was quite sneery and dismissive so i grabbed a socket, took one off and popped it into his hand. :)

i wouldn't deal with them again out of choice because of that. but like i said, the work was good.

I find Simon at Absolute VW a really approachable guy, knows his stuff too

  14. You ditched the airbox as well? How are they putting the new front on?

  15. I managed to pick up a full front panel some time ago. It has the airbox, inner panel all in one. Not sure if these are still available but the one on the bus was in a right state!
