Newbie with 74 westy called Jude

Evening All

picked up my westy few weeks back , love it apart from the gearbox - I don’t think second actually exists !

couple questions as I’m tidying her up - dash where you can see fuse box - is there supposed to be a cover that hides all this and wires hanging down ?

sliding door - again is there a cover to go over top to hide rail ?

I know Jude has bits missing as bit homemade interior from previous owners - just found all seals are missing inside on Louvre windows - thought looked odd !

I think you will find second gear there somewhere….. just have to be
Forgiving ! well that is what I was told many years ago

 

Yes hold in general position, apply minimal pressure and wait for it to fall into second. lol
Those internal Westy louvre window seals were an aftermarket addition I think, not standard kit.
There should be a plastic flap thing dangling inside the top slider track.
Fusebox should have a clear cover over the fuses, the wires dangling near the steering column... tuck 'em up if you dare but don't blame me if half your stuff stops working...

and does anyone know what colour my bus is ? Seen load of references baby blue , powder blue ..I need to touch up few bits but thinking have to get paint matched

The westy ones were a bit like a 1" curtain and TBH a bit crap, but the stock VW one is still available from the likes of Schofields.

 

Thanks , I’ve been looking for a cover or such - hence why didn’t find anything . I’ll check out scholfields : )

They call it a headbanger trim, it's to soften the blow as you head butt it getting out. lol

Probably easier to get a Swedish washer bottle than one but probably should be cheaper.
