Hello All !! I've finally bit the bullet and bought my first Late Bay Westy after watching the scene for years I helped a friend partially renovate another Westy late bay earlier this year and subsequently used it for my family trip to France this year which I loved. I attended Busfest in Malvern for the weekend in the Split Screen Club Field as my mate is a member, and decided to become a more permanent addition. Here's a picture of the Westy I've recently purchased. It's a 1978 Californian Westfalia which was apparently brought into this country 6 years ago. It's the 2.0L injection variant with 6 fin box, which goes well too Any information on this bus or any help / tips greatly appreciated ;-) Ken
Welcome fella! Nice looking westy, same layout as mine but fitted with vinyl seats on a 78, I thought they all had matching fabric front & back
Hi Mork, The pictures I've seen of the Westfalia Berlins have the matching seats as you say, so I'm not sure of the origin of these. The passenger seat is the full swivel action, so thought they may have been an option or upgrade maybe ?? Like I say I really haven't got much idea as my mates Westy is a different config to the one I bought as he has a full width rock and roll bed too !!
Hi Brett, It was a fair price as it does need paint and the engine has a few oil leaks along with a slightly blowing exhaust, so all this was factored into the deal. To be honest the pictures make it look a lot better paint wise than what it is, but its a solid base being a Californian, and all the nice to have interior bits seem to be all there !!
Plan is to give it some TLC over the winter then use it for what it was built for, and definitely a trip into Europe again next year
