Hi all, Joined yesterday and just read Jools and John's intro and their 1979 Devon... and like Number 9 busses you wait an hour then 2 come along! Mine was a bit of a bargain find and not any where in as good a nick is it's younger sister. This one is 1978 Type 4 2 litre twin carb engine looks unmodified and about 115k I think genuine miles. It has a cruise control button! and fancy chrome gear stick Engine ran sweetly until, even after the battery fell through the rusty battery tray! Currently SOAR til I slowly plod through the repairs reckon next Autumn maybe and then some. Have attached some pics to give a feel for the work needing done and can already feel you mentally calculating the list and cost! Rough notes though - Whats good. Engine except fuel lines. Most of the sills fine under those belly pans. Really not much welding needing done there but will remove old belly pans and consider replacing. Not good - Brakes need doing all round (not just the shoes. Want to lower a couple of inches to be sure of clearing garage in future. Bodywork - bits all round - most windows and lower edges - cab floorpan bits, seat belt anchors. Needs a fresh start with most of the interior which is original though done, though will salvage the grill fridge and R&R bed table and the bulkead seats. Some perfs in bellows and insulation and headliner out of pop tops needs done. Original hammocks intact but damp. Big project but in no rush. Wee challenge for the seasoned ones. Any idea about the non standard side indicator on top of B pillar - there is a pic in there somewhere. Seen any before and any chance of replacing with similar. Cheers and Hi all... Craig
