With "Eddie" in the main finished apart from a few details, attention can now be switched back to our 1971 crossover Westy. The body and paint have been finished for some time, so just the interior to sort out, although we are missing a few parts, and the engine and box to take back out, and clean , fit with new seals, gaskets and pipework and refit. Plus this Chopper bike! Now I know its a MK3, but that makes it the equivalent of a Late bay....... anyway with what we have planned for it, it doesnt really matter, you'll just have to watch this space......
how can you say it's a xover? 71 is full early it even has small vents and rear lights, this isn't a slag off just sayin!
We have his birth certificate at 22/03/1971, so yes a pretty early stage of the crossovers. And if anyone has a Westy Campmobile interior, or parts of one for sale, especially a wardrobe and sink/coolbox unit, let me know !
the thing with vw is that they started using all the early stock on the late bays ,changeover was gradual, as in they did not tell production staff to bin all the early stuff ,so could have easily left the factory with different arches... makes it super rare...
