Hi Folks, I need a new tyre on the back of my van. The rest of them are ok. I have an original 1973 handbook that states owner should replace all tyres at the same time, or a least both on an axel at a time. I never did this with any other older vehicles I've owned. What have other owners done? Replace one at a time? Is this just overly Teutonic efficiency from the factory (with no consideration of our need in the UK to tighten the belt) or is this a genuine safety issue? Would appreciate your thoughts. Best, Stu
if i replace a tire il always do at least both on that axle.. unless they are both new and one got a puncture or something like that..
If you only have one bad one, I guess it was the spare and your 4th tyre got a puncture. Maybe you should check the spare, it may have been repaired but never put back on. Or may just need a a repair.
Thanks chaps. Not sure previous owner played by those rules as one tyre is cracking on the walls due to age (the one that worries me) whereas the other on real axel is pretty new. Spare is legal but very worn. Best, Stu
