New to all this - hello

  1. Hello, very excited about my new '73 Super-viking camper. Needs a LOT of TLC, but on the whole its perfect (for us anyway).

Just found this site, and very excited about it all. Its been 20 years since I owned my last one - but now, older and wiser, I am really appreciating it.

Not sure where to start with it all, so taking it in for a service on Monday, and seeing what comes of it. Any tips, advice or help to know what to ask/look out for would be very welcomed! I stopped a lady in the street who put me onto the garage, such a friendly lot these VW Camper types!

    Good to be here! :)

  11. Hello mate. Ask away. More importantly. . . . let's see the beast!

  12. Welcome to TLB and the Super Viking club

  13. Thanks everyone - its good to be here.

Managed to change profile pic, so I can introduce 'Vern', or 'Big Vern' as he is known. He came to us as Katy, but had gender reassignment. :D

We're in South Manchester (might even be Cheshire technically). Vern is currently having a sleep-over at South Manchester Aircooled where he's getting a service and having various bits done. Stef told me he 'ran like a dog' - I thought he ran ok - show's what I know!

Next job is he needs new roof struts, and a leisure battery. Also want to get the mains hookup wired in. But as I don't know what I'm talking about, anyone who can advise/point me in the right direction - I'd like to hear from you! Want to get the interior done by spring so we can start camping. Its all in pretty good nick, but apart from a ropey two burner/grill under what would have been the buddy seat (seats go around 3 sides) there's no other amenities.

Thanks again. This is fab. :)

  14. I'm in Sale mate :)

Thanks Zoe, would love more details if you have the time? will I find it on here? will do a search. :)

Bern, was that the very beautiful one? I'm back there tomorrow morning to pick Vern up. If our paths cross, say hi won't you?!
