  1. after much thought and puzzelment
we cant decide wether to buy new carbs or get the old one rebuilt
    i have spoken to 3 places that would rebuild the old carbs . solex 34 pdsit 2 / 3 on a 2ltr type 4

the first was Gower and lee £250 plus vat and 7 weeks turn around

second was Carb exchange £190 plus vat and 9 weeks turn around

and third Laurie ellis £ 450 to £500 6 weeks turn around

or a new pair from stock at Euro carbs Weber Idf 40s with kit for fitting £689 inc vat and £12 delivery

so does anyone have any knowledge of rebuilds with the above thanks in advance

  2. rebuild involves a bit more than jets and diaphrams the spindles get rebushed and surfaces polished and stuff like that

  3. so i have sent the old carbs of to gower and lee to be rebuilt they are going to be gone for 8 weeks the carb exchange in lieghton buzzard told me to ring back in 3 weeks and he might be able to take them but it would be at least another 9 weeks to get them done

  4. If you keeping the bus buy a new pair and fiddle with the old ,better to have two plans and four carbs... O0

Carb exchange did 1st class job of mine.

  6. Whatever happens, when you get them back, check the drain plugs are thoroughly tight on both - after I had mine re-bushed by someone the RH one fell out whilst I was driving and piddled fuel over my hot engine. Nice!
