New Glass for Sliding Windows?

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by secondtimearound, May 17, 2013.

  1. I've decided to restore the sliding windows in my Viking rather than replace, but the glass is damaged on a couple of panes (welding spatter.)

Whilst it would be nice and easy to replace with laminated cut to size, of course the channels in the windows are toughened glass width, so laminated won't fit. Can you get flat glass cut to size and then toughenend? Any one done it?

    Thanks!:)

  2. Might be in with a chance of you can find the right glass specialist. Worth looking around locally.

  3. Thanks chaps - will start phoning around, but just wondered if anyone had done it successfully in the past.

I'm restoring rather than replacing them becasue the Viking has a specific window shape that I like. They polish up well as well!

  4. If your anywhere near me I can sort it for you. I own a glass shop

  5. Also if you use laminated glass it will blow after a while as the moisture will get between the panes

  6. Thanks chaps. Whereabouts are you icepug?
