Negative switching??

  1. Hi, here's a question for you....
I have the following items to power from my leisure battery, I'm all hooked up to a fuse board and have two, two way switches to switch on power to tap, power to led lights, power to two cig sockets and power to two usbs.
Question is that I've realised the C Line switches are like household two ways, one power input and two switcheable outputs.
The lights and pump on one and cig sockets and USB on the other.
Can I just run one power 5 amp to pump and lights and one power 10 amp to the cig and USB?
I was thinking run all fused power lines to individual items and then onto the switches then earth switching??
Asking about issues with fusing and other known problems if poss?
Appreciate your help on this please, hope it makes sense?

  2. Why do you want to switch through the ground? Just put the switches in the +ve lines.

  3. Because I think there's only one input power to the switches mate. You think that the one 12v 5amp input would be ok to power the two items at once?

  4. Indeed. Seems pointless to me?

  5. I wondered too, was just thinking I should have the two items powered separately if going through the switch that was all?

  6. Regardless of how you arrnge the switches and fuses the current draw is the same. Not sure what your tring tonachieve that a looped live wouldnt achieve

  7. Obviously I appreciated that they would have to be the same fuse rating

  8. Tell us what you want to achieve as im missing the point

  9. Ok, I was just checking to see if it would be alright that was all lol

  10. I have a two way switch which has one power input...
I want to switch two things on and off using the switch... the tap and led lights.

  11. All I was thinking was that if I had the lights and tap switched on through the same power input, if I switched the tap on would it dim the lights as effectively splitting the power??

  12. You're only going to use one of the outputs (the normally-open one), so just connect both things to that. If the fuse is in the supply line to the switch, it will protect the wiring for everything.

  13. Well...how much current do your pump and lights take when both are switched on?

  14. That is a good question, I'm not sure, will have to look into that.

  15. Lights say 1.2 amps per metre of which I have two and pump surely isn't going to draw more than three amps I would've thought?

  16. Stick a 5 amp fuse in, see if it pops. Or is the "5A" the rating of the switch? I'm confused.

  17. Bt two way, what do you mean? Two position or two gang ( ie two switches) or is it that the output terminals one is live and then-the other one becoms live when you switch it.

  18. This.

  19. 5amp fuse is rating for lights and pump, switch is higher I think, don't have info on it.
