Had the van fired up but generally not running right .. currently working on sorting out the carb jetting , tidied up few wee loose ends , bumpers fitted rear fog fitted wired in a few auxiliary switches, added some lights to the inside to brighten things up, waxoiled the underside and the nooks and crannies, ladled it on id some places .. Big one for tonight though was fitting the screen, schoolboy error was the fit the front panel and get the van painted without test fitting the screen ... got to admit the way the build had been going I fully anticipated the screen to be to big for the hole but on the contrary, It went in no probs. Original screen new rubber..yeehaa were on our way were on our way to happiness today aha aha aha aha...
you're making great progress mate it looks fab. pm me your address, i will send you 6 get VW screws, I ordered 6 when i was putting my buss back together and they sent me 6 packs, so either you only need to order 1 and you get 1 pack of 6, or they cocked up!
Thanks for the offer, really kind of you, but I got onto JK moaned about the cost of a screw, reminded them of the previous purchases and pleaded for a bit of good will with the pending order... They come good and sent the screws FOC I still spent a hundred quid on additional nick nacks. still it was good customer relations and i have spent more with them since then... Van is nearly there, really want to put it on the road finished, although they never really are .... already thinking of a lower half wrap as there are a few wee flaws in the paint that are irking me, poor prep, a wrap would be quicker and cheaper than a repaint....
Well after some messing about Ive got the van running pretty sweet .. starting easy idling good at 850 rpm revs cleanly, clutch is as light as a feather, feels great, gear shift is the smoothest I have ever felt very sweet. drives realy quiet on the road but unfortunately it does scrape may have to go to a third tyre option ... will give it a bash as it is.. drove it around to the house from the shed where its been for the last 8 years,, furthest it been driven for well over 20 years ... Its not finished yet just needed to take he wee drive to boost my enthusiasm .. Parked it out side the house and within minutes the neighbours were out, spent an hour chatting to them about it then folk walking there dog stopped and gave it a full once over then a couple walking there kids got all gooey eyed over it .. then the other neighbour had a look over it while I was in the house.. I can see its gong to be hard to get any rest anywhere you go... Pr for the course I suppose .. fingers crossed it attracts some hot chicks.. when the wifes not around LOL.. excuse the brick under the front wheel its a steep hill and the park brake needs a wee bit of final adjustment ..
