I'm going to bodge. By the time I fit the door architrave I'll only see an inch of it and because I'd only be buying one panel the post is more than the panel itself. I've ordered some quadrant for the wall/celling gap - I wanted to cut the panels first to see what kind of a gap I had to cover.

Soooo what's left - cut that end one on the right to the right width and stick them up. Time to order a door... and a sink - I've got a thick bit of work surface to cut the sink into ready and I've plumbed and wired in the shower drain pump. Plumbing is ready for the sink, I cut holes in the hull and fitted two waste skin fittings the other day. I'll use off cuts from the shower for a sink splashback and might also fit them in toilet corner - the panels were 3m long so I've plenty of pieces. Getting there!

I've glued the stuff in but I'm not very impressed with it - it's rather brittle. I had some samples of big panels from another company which were tough and assumed all this stuff is much the same. Too late now though I think I will probably cut holes in it and put packers under the door frame. Maybe go for a dry fit and see how it is.
No photos as it looks the same as when it was dry fitted yesterday.

  3. I had to fit an HMO with 6 en-suites with that aqua- panel stuff. Hated every minute of fitting it. As you have found the massive panels fitting into an enclosure that is the same size as them is a pain in the arse.

The hollow ones are brittle and the solid ones are rubbish too.

I had some samples from "the panel company" that weren't brittle and stupidly assumed the 8mm x 250mm would be the same but really they are kack in comparison. I think I'd have coped with the actual fitting of the big ones but I calculated that I couldn't get them into the bathroom in the first place.
Did you fit the doors on top of them?

  5. Yup - you have to fit the rails for the door on top of the panel/tiles.

Quick post to keep the thread up to date.
Got the shower tap and stuff installed plus some quadrant around the top where wall meets ceiling. I've still a lot of this trimmings stuff to install.
Ordered a door - went for bifold in the end as I didn't fancy the chance of a big single glass door swinging around if we're out in the boat.
Ordered a 2 tap sink coz I'm tight, I can reuse the old taps and I'm not a mixer tap fan - too awkward when you want to repair them - keep it simple.
    Picture of the hardware installed...

You may recall I ordered some GRP porthole liners to be 70mm+ deep and they arrived between 50mm and 65mm. After failing to figure out a good way of using them that won't forever annoy me I calmed down enough to ring the supplier today, who to their credit were very accommodating and in truth I think not surprised. I get the impression their business is rather chaotic. Upshot is they reckon they can actually make them up to 80mm deep so I asked them to aim for that and I'll send the others back. They're actually quite nice things for the price apart from the depth issue.

Holy macaroni, my shower door is due to arrive between 7am and 8am tomorrow - I'll have to set an alarm.

Dry fit. I had to get some UPVC section to pad out the sides as it was on the end of it's width adjustment and I didn't like the look of it but otherwise despite this being a cheapy cheap lightweight door it's pretty sturdy.
Now to get some silicon under the plastic sections...

Looking good, but once it's finished I'm happy for you to miss out the money shot of naked Zeds taking shower....:sick::)

    I wouldn't want anyone being sick. :)

I got up at 6am - time for a coffee before meeting the door delivery, then got a text to say it wouldn't be there until 9am. I went to meet the blokey who drove right past me in an unmarked white van and dumped it behind the cafe over the road. That took some finding! No attempt to deliver it properly, just unloaded it somewhere that was easy for him and buggered off.

Basin came today too - somewhat larger than I imagined from the dimensions and photos. Hmm - oh well - onwards and upwards.

I agree, these companies and their middle of the night deliveries, ridiculous!

    Massive sink.
I just glued it to the counter with silicon, I hope that's enough.

Flippin boat plumbing: Ha-ha - yes I have a lot of shut off valves - lesson learnt with the original impossible to isolate anything plumbing. It's not really finished, I haven't connected up the toilet flush yet.

Next up - splashback and how to make a semi useful cupboard that hides the pumps but is also removeable for pump/plumbing servicing.
I have some spare doors so I made this frame to suit the biggest one.

Replumbed the pipe at the back from the pump to get it lower and out of the way of a shelf when I get that far.
Finished the cupboard carcass though it needs painting and trimage..

Didn't notice how warped the door was though which is annoying. I'll fit a better catch so it straightens out at least when it's closed. Not my best work. I shouldn't have used the crappy door. At least I managed to centre the door on the sink. :(

That door. Or rather, I wasn't  it's horrible and out of place even if it wasn't twisted. Lucky it was twisted really. I'm making a more simple one.
I've lined the bog space with more of the plastic panels and made a splashback too which didn't really work out as tidy as I'd have liked, stuck on more plastic bits, some towel rails, fitted the shower drain pump switch (bit of a disaster covered with a bigger plate) and done a lot of silicon type stuff.
This is going on and on and on. :(

Despite being known for my utter lack of decorating taste even I can see this...
    IMG_20231124_115609503.jpg

... is going to be a distinct improvement on that, even if I'd painted it...

Quite tasteful if I say so myself. :) Honestly, what was I thinking!? lol

Time to polish up the old bog and get that fitted I think. I ought to fit flooring first but I don't have that, Lino I guess as it's the bathroom, I don't want gaps inherent with click flooring in here: my son is, shall we say "loose" with water. lol.

Still got shower tray jitters, I may try and ram some more concrete in from the front, like pointing, I feel I made a wee bit of a hash of it and the middle under the door - basically where you'd put your foot on it getting in isn't well supported... well, not really supported at all. I've got the muck, might as well use it. :(

You could use spray foam with a nice long nozzle and get underneath it and that will support it - you can then reach lots of area with a long nozzle

I’d be tempted to squirt the foam in now it’s level as ossiedog of suggested further back

With a decent tray (I'd never have bought this one if I could have seen it properly first) I'm sure sprayfoam would be fine and in fact the Mira tray it replaced was simply plonked on the floor with no ill effects. The difference between them is stark to say the least. This one needs mollycoddling IMO - it's like the barest shell of a tray that needs concrete to make it into a whole one. :)

I'm sure if you'd had your hands on it like I have you'd agree.
