My hole isn't big enough.....

Went to fit a fuel pump pedestal on a type 1 engine yesterday. It wouldn't fit. It is a genuine used part going into a standard case. AR code.

There is not a broken piece left in the case.

The part number of the pedestal is 113-127-303

Part number seems the same for 1200 - 1600.

Ordered a new one and it fits.

Do they expand with time ?? I know they get stuck in the hole but presumed it was just gunk build up causing them to stick.

 

I think they do swell up like many plastics which is why bits get left behind.. sandpaper ?

Yes the swell with heat and oil, sand it down to make it fit
