In January I noticed a small hole in the exchanger N/S - usual stuff - nothing major plugged it with some milliput - sorted. Decided to buy the pipe repair piece though for later. In March the tailpipe looking already like a handrail off the Titanic, so decided to buy a new JK stainless one. Started to undo the bolts holding the old one to the backbox , hello whats this? Moving it I see a big chunk of inner exhaust move with it!!! The tailpipe is holding the exhaust innards up! Oops! A swift rebolt and 5 months later still going strong - damn that old tailpipe! Not being one to waste the steam off my wee, I still run it with that old pipe!!! Everything is fine but now the hole in the heatexchanger has got bigger milliput fell out on the M56 somewhere and my van sounds like its got a bit of a Zoom tube on it! : Dare I finally replace with repair patch or more milliput?Milliput of course when I get home only 65 miles to go, no problem the stereo has a volume button! See how many weeks thats lasts? I also have a new Ernst backbox waiting, neither that nor the JK pipe has rusted in my garage yet - bonus! ;D I love aircooled VW's...........
