My Grandparent's old viking

Discussion in 'Introduce Yourselves' started by toastiemaker, Mar 14, 2015.

  1. Hi all,
I'm a London based kiwi with a love of air cooled buses.
We currently own a 66 split and we have previously owned an prototype bay dormobile, which was a fantastic bus.

The reason I've registered on here is because I thought I'd try and track down the current owner of my grandparents old bus. I had a search of the rego, VUU 510M, and the bus is MOT'd and taxed up to May which means its still being used.
They were originally from Wales (please, no sheep jokes) and moved out to NZ (please, no sheep jokes) after the war. Still having family in the UK meant they visited regularly and it was on one of these journeys they bought a 1974 Late bay with a viking conversion. I have no idea what year it was that they went on this trip, but judging by the condition of the bus, I do wonder if they were the first owners.

I only have a few pics, but I know how we all love to learn about any history of our vehicles.

If anyone recognises the bus or knows the owner please let them know about the post.

    Cheers
    Will

Pay £5 to DVLA and you can get this history for the bus probably including current owner

  8. Don't undervalue your contribution, @volkswombat... That's great fashion help for anyone thinking of travelling to the Antipidean! I'll know what to pack next time! ;-)

  17. Good luck with your search. Great pics. My bus was originally owned by a kiwi. I paid dvla to find out the info on the previous owners. It was original registered in a village by Cambridge. I did a quick search. Emailed a parish magazine. The editor could remember the couple and my van! Power this internet! Great place nz!

I had a Kiwi van too, it was exported there new, travelled around in for two years, then shipped back to the UK. They must have loved it! Not your one though. :(
