My Bay will start - But there's still a nagging problem!

  1. Change the vacum lines and adjust the valves.
Check the carb and manifold gaskets , with wd40 or carb cleaner for leaks..
    Youll find one,
, for the third time .
I enjoy the fact of knowing every part and the quality of the part even if used ,
    On my vehicles ,
until you reach this point ,?..
Then the questions to fellow bay members can be asked ,
Trying to ask someone to help and you dont know what you have
    Is redundant
But that might just be me,,
no negativity , just a statement ,,,,, not referring exclusively to this post ,,
    enjoy part II.

zed and Bertie the Bus like this.
  3. Mine and a fellow bus owner had problems with fuel feed, so from my experience it was fuel, but like many people say on here.... Go for the usual checks then report on the quirks... with all honesty I have fixed 95% of all my bus problems from reading old posts on TLB or on the Samba.com... My bus has spent at least 7months on the driveway while I went through each and every suggestion... however now, my bus is far from being spot on BUT it fires on almost a 1/4 turn of the ignition key - even if it stands for a month - its pretty reliable (dont want to push my luck to far) and after a lot of reading I do understand what is being written on the forum in the technical sub-groups...

I have read your other posts, but I have to say if this is a key line of income for you then you need to up your game on how these beasts work in my opinion...and possibly not jump to the first solution that appears to fit the problem you are having (for me the issue you are having is not spark plug related) ...I am unsure if you fully read what is posted... or if you do, you actually know more than you give...

Honestly I have read all the posts in the thread "we can not name" and I have to say the big difference is that for majority of us here this is our hobby...a very dedicated hobby but for the majority its not a livelihood.

Have you considered with your remote location in investing time in gaining a ticket in vehicle maintenance and becoming someone in the know... for instance there is

    http://www.uklearningcollege.co.uk/car-maintenance-course-p-288.html

it may become a money earner for you....or a day crash course with the Type 2 Detectives to help your own knowleadge

    http://www.busbootcamp.com/

I have been on the Boot Bus Camp and from it I came away knowing how to sort bus electrics... so well worth looking at if you were a novice....more so if this is your business

I appreciate it is money to invest, but equally from your previous posts you didnt have a local mechanic that you could use as you could not afford £35 per hour, yet your bus has seem more garages in the past couple of weeks than I can imagine...and the bills are being paid - have the guitars gone yet?

Truly I don't come on this forum to have a pop at anyone, but from experience there are a lot of knowledgeable people on this forum, who are happy to help at levels that are truly unbelievable when you are lying on your back under the bus ready to torch it... but after reading literally hundreds of posts about your issues, for me you need to man up a little, go out and just simply accept, I am driving a 40 year old vehicle and its not going to be as reliable as an i10 straight of the hyundai forecourt...just because you are in a remote part of Scotland...its all getting a little cry wolf for me.... especially when you look at how quick you can dismiss some advice when half a dozen posts before you didnt have clue...

Honestly I have worked in a place called Woomera in South Australia (Google it) for several months and I can not explain to you how resourceful the people I worked with out there are when faced with something they have no idea about... so come on son, suck it up and get stuck in....come join the rest of us with cuts all over our hands, oil marks over our heads, underlined with a slight air of confusion... it makes the beer taste just that tad sweeter!

Again I apologise up front for moaning, but I do read your posts to see if I can offer you help but to me it seems you ignore good advice, so big apologises if I offend, but its time to know the tooth fairy doesn't really exist son!

  4. You could move here

  5. Keeping the south Australia theme alive.... Or Magnetic Hill?
