  6. Money pit? You must be the only one ;) Seriously, you've done an absolute fab job. Can I ask please, what did you use to do the interior thermal job? Where did you get those thermal sheets from? And do they act as a sound deadener too?

  7. Class ,really good job there ,i bet you just cant wait for the first drive eh

  8. That roof rack looks mighty fine

  9. Craig, you're like the super man of the bus world. Seriously good skills there.

And I love the colour too. Reminds me of Fungus the Bogeyman (in a good way - was my favourite book as a kid)

  10. cheers guys for the nice comments :D

  11. Fantastic job Craig, the bus is looking awesome  That's a great job you've made of the roof rack too.

    Superb craftmanship!

  12. managed to sort the dash out with a bit of TLC :D
disemboweled the complete dash and cleaned all the 39 years of cr*p off and striped the paint off the steel parts. welded the unwanted holes up and planished any dents out then sent them through the work powder paint shop ;D
cleaned up the dials ,grab handle ,glove box and the other plastic trim .god its amazing how much gunk gets ingrained into the parts other the years
then reassembled back together in the van 8)

just need to take off the steering wheel which is putting up a fight :(
then take the steering column into work to get that painted and do something with the tatty steering wheel and that will be it for that area ;D

  13. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

How did you get the splatter effect back on the dash?

A lot of the faces were like that from new as I expect you know, but the top I think was always flat semi-gloss finish. You've made a very good job of it. If I worked where there was a powder coating facility I'd have anything I could unscrew from the bus through it. :)

  18. wow, that dash looks better than when it left the factory 8)

    great work

  19. thanks guys :D
finally repaired the steering wheel of the 39 years of gunk ,cracks and the chunk of plastic that came off when i removed the wheel
filed all the cracks to a v shape
    [IMG]
then add epoxy filler to the filed areas and left to dry
    [IMG]
    sanded smooth
    [IMG]
fully rubbed down then sprayed with hammerite paint :D
    [IMG]
much better to the touch ;D
also started on the units in side
using .9 zintec steel marked out cut to size then started to fold with a safe edge around the top
    [IMG]
using a radius tool to fold the two upright folds
    [IMG]
marked out and chopped the plates for the shelf and base and spot welded in place
    [IMG]
fully welded the radius corners in
    [IMG]
offered up the stove to see how it looked
    [IMG]
just need to finish the door and lid then get it powder coated :D
    till next time :chewie:
