Missed out on an active sub at stanford hall for £25. Only knew about it after someone on facebook said they'd picked it up.
As it was a lot cooler in the garage than in the house i decided to check the tappet clearance and points gap. Both the same as they were last time i checked. Fitted new cork rocker cover gaskets too. Drivers side: Passengers side: Rotor still looks new and points gap was in spec too. She started up first turn of the key but was a little grumpy as it was too hot for the choke. I made a 10 second video but its 16.4MB big.
Got offered a spot for the bug in the show at Tatton Park next Sunday. It was on the reserve list again but a space opened up. My dad died early yesterday morning though so I'm heading up to the North East instead.
Cheers. He died peacefully in his sleep doped up on morphine. Just drove 350 miles up the country. Had an overnight stop near Buxton to break up the journey a bit.
Went to one of our local shows yesterday. Wet and miserable day. Beetles sunroof leaks ever so slightly in one front corner. Looks like the seal is compressed after 25 years and the water sits and drips in. Hopefully replacing the seal will sort it. The only beetle there. A few other VWs were there but not many as it clashed with Volksfest Wales at Brecon. Tidy twin sliding door westy. This oddball 3 wheeler was made of laminated wood.
As the weather forecast is not looking nice for the upcoming week i decided to use the bug to go shopping.
Do you know what… I bought my beetle in either late August or early September 1996 just before i went to uni Can’t remember the date. It was a rather splendid mint green 1300A I patiently waited for it to get its rolling 25 year tax exemption. The thing would be 50 years old now! Well, the chassis is - it’s under my brothers beach buggy now
Took the bug out for a quick run around in the sunshine before the weather turns tomorrow. Passengers side (left) front caliper is still sticking a little. Disc was warm on that side but cold on the other side.
That looks a good spot tried ours other day had to limp home as couldn't rev past 2k. Cleaned out carbs and found split hose, been sat outside all through winter and still starts. Quick fix and a blast flat out been fine since. Sent from my SM-A127F using Tapatalk
