  6. I had a 62 LI125. Frame got nicked when I moved (it was in bits) Still got the motor (and logbook) One day I shall get myself another. Is the Lincoln run an LCGB event?

It is a LCGB signing on event , we had one there 3 years ago and it was a cracker - much of the same this weekend hopefully , good bands on, sprint racing , scooter gymkhana etc etc

  8. I like the sound of that. Did quite a few LCGB events back in the day. I assume Mr Walsh is still around.

:DMr Walsh is still around somewhere but isn't (as far as I know ) anything to do with the LCGB anymore .

But ..what a weekend spent with some great mates, plenty of drink and plenty of banter - but Christ I'm knackered now , absolutely shattered:D

Quite a few bays there as well ... Not exactly ideal on A scooter rally but still nice to see them :D

  10. Nice bike.
I used to race back in the 70's. Still have trophy I won for a first place at Snetterton. Virtually gave the bike away back in the early 80's. It is still on the road somewhere. DVLA check shows that it is taxed every November. Would be worth a fortune now. 1964 LI. With 200 engine (Tuned to the point of almost blowing up) Rayspeed barrel and piston, 30mm Delorto carb. Ancilotti clubman exhaust. Dampers on front forks. Reg no. ABJ 963B if anyone ever comes across it. It's still in white but the signwriting with my name on it has probably been erased by now.
I keep checking Ebay to see if it ever appears for sale. Would love the chance of buying it back.

Any idea of what area it would be in now ?
One of our lads used to race ( late 70s ) Steve 'gus' justice , do you remember him.
Racings big again nowadays , I'll be going to Caldwell in September but going in the bus not scooter as I'll take my daughter with me .
There was a sprint strip this weekend gone - top speed of 84mph in a quarter mile - pretty impressive for an Italian shopping bike

  13. Was loaned a copy of "Vroom With A View" by Peter Moore and it wasn't until I read this that I realised that Italy ran a scrappage scheme which decimated the amount of their classic scooters. Gone for good, bet they regret it now.

I think most of them ended up here before that - there's still some to be found over there but they don't like to let them leave the country now :(

  15. The last I heard was that my old scooter was somewhere in Scotland or the North of England. Steve was probably a bit later than me. I was racing in the early 70's.
Cadwell is a great circuit. I got knocked off there one time. Another rider ran out of brakes and took me out. I still have an old cine film of me riding at Cadwell.

  17. there's been a spate of retro designs recently, like the 'new' beetle, mini, figaro, fiat 500 etc. so it's inevitable the scooter manufacturers would do their bit...but like you say, not quite the same....
