MPG don't get me wrong but....

MPG?! I couldn't care less. I couldn't care less about Co2 emissions either. I was driving behind a couple of hippies yesterday in a Split, covered in Green Peace stickers, save the planet and all that nonsense. I wondered if they had any idea that their beloved Split was probably kicking out more than 20 times the average Co2 of the modern car. Made me laugh. Always does, all these green enviromentalists.

 

but making a new car that kicks out 20% less emissions makes 80 % more emissions

 

I also couldn't give the proverbial chufty but then 50,000 miles ago, my fuel gauge packed up and I started filling it up every 200 miles.
Always filling it to the brim made it dead easy to monitor & until a couple of years ago it was my daily.
Then one day I was on my way to fill up & it ran out of fuel at 196 miles.
A tankful is 55 litres so that's 16 mpg & it caused me to pay attention.

Now it's just a fun thing to do.

 

Yours is also a heavy westy Rick. You should get more than 10 mpg though. You could get from a 70's 4.2L Jag!

 

I bowt an old 50 +mpg diesel yesterday, its got a tow bar so i can tow the camper to the shops to save fuel ^-^

 

I'm daft.

I've got a lovely Octavia Vrs, nice 'n quick but since the kids came along I'm finding myself looking at the trip computer and driving it like a grandad. I should just welly it shouldn't I...but it's the sensible family estate.

Solution to my quandry has come in the shape of my bay which has no trip computer and gives me far more smiles to the mile than anything else.

So I'm spending far more on fuel than I really should!

 

We can't fill ours up over half way - well we can but it will make a mess of the garage forecourt.

I dread to think how much we spent on the 2100 miles europe trip last month.
