  1. A little bit of progress over the last couple of days, shamefully slow progress but progress none the less. Been cleaning and prodding the underside. There was the bodge in the front chasis member,
    [IMG]
I have cleaned this up and chopped out the rot,
    [IMG]
I then gave the inside of the chasis as much Kurust, etch and finally zinc as I could reach,
    [IMG]
I made a repair panel, this is going to be in two bits due to the shaping required, cut and tacked in,

This is as far as I got with this as it is a sunday and I do not like to grind in the close on a sunday, I will have a go tomorrow morning and then start to seam it up and then make the other half of the repair. Also spent some time taking the wiring loom out so that I can cut out the wiring conduit from underneath as it is rotten. Thanks for looking.

    Good neighbour.
I did a whole resto on my drive and nobody complained! I was so impressed with this neighborliness I vowed never to grind on the drive again. :)

  3. Had a good day on the bus today, finished the chasis repair,

I also did the small hole on the top right then covered it in red oxide but forgot to get a pic, will do when I am next in the garage.
Then I started to tackle the inner sills, nearside. This is a hell of a job and anyone who does this on their back underneath a bus on their drive gets my admiration. It seems to take me ages to unpick old bodywork, I am perhaps a bit too careful (scared of damaging the good metal). Took the sliding door off, christ they are heavier than I would have guessed.
Found some more poor workmanship, the existing outer will was welded ontop the old rotten one, nice.

  4. I also removed the front jacking point as this was bodged too, no pics of that will get some of those out in the garage next time too.

  5. Really impressed with the work you're doing.

    Rather you than me.

    Matt.

  6. Doing a grand job...good luck mate....

  7. Thanks Matt, there is alot of work compared to yours I think, good to catch up the other day.
    Thanks Flashar.

  8. Here is the chasis repair
    [IMG]
Been battling on with the inner sill removal,
    [IMG]
Front top hat is toast almost along its length, side inboard is ok but the outside, wheel arch side, has been poorly replaced, so this needs replacing.

    Thanks for looking.

  9. Had another few hours chopping out, not much put in but plenty of rot cut out. Cut this bit out that was underneath the front jacking point,
    [IMG]
Cut this out, took out as much loose rust as poss and Kurusted it, also got it primed and Zinc'd ready for welding in a new bit. I got the new bit cut, but the paint was not dry so will do this repair next time.

I took out the front centre cross section as that was rotten, I am going to have to replace most of the front top hat too. I also spent some time looking at the floor, whilst it looks ok, there are so many areas that need attention I think that I will take it out and put a new one in, this will help with the top hats and stop the floor looking like a patchwork quilt.

Right going to order some jacking points, centre sections and top hats...............not sure what original bus will be left!!

  10. Well it is has been a while again, and I have continued chopping out some of the rot, again struggled with time. Got a patch welded in on the Chassis, it is nice to weld thick metal, so easy.

  11. Be aware that the new floors are poor at best
If you can save your old one then thats normally the best approach

  12. Thanks Paradox, some of the floor will have to come out I think but I will save what I can.
Struggling to get the Y-pipe out now, it is all loose, bit of a Chinese puzzle.

Agreed, the OG halves are good - mine came out nice. :)
