Mornin` all . Been loitering for a while , thought I`d better say hello - be rude not to. Recently moved from gods own country (Yorkshire) down to `that London`- I know..... Had my bus for 20+ years, slipped a VEGE recon in and spent the first couple travelling around southern Europe/Greece/Turkey - adventures galore, sleeping on beaches etc but you probably couldn`t do it these days. Post trip it was my daily drive for 3 years and starting to get a bit scabby so was parked up until a year later I built a garage and she got some TLC.. Not one for the purists, the bus started life as a Dutch postal van imported and converted by unskilled hands, but the layout was basically a Westy with a home-brewed pull out bed, Westy roof and very `live-able` so I kept it, replaced a few cupboard doors, trimmed the interior, recovered the cushions etc etc . Did it all myself, and like I say, not for the purist but very satisfying and not TOO rough ... Since then ?? Lots of trips to forrin parts taking in the Balkans as we used to visit Yugoslavia as kids - great place to drive / stay. Breakdowns ?? NONE.. in 20 years - 60,000 miles. There is a lot to be said for a well sorted standard engine. Changing the oil every 3000 miles keeps the metallic bits sweet, the only mod is petronix electronic ignition - best £70 (at that time !) I spent on the van. I do carry essential spares, cables, coil, fuel pump and filter etc but never needed `em. (Touches toupee...) Don`t get to many shows as I tend to use the van as much as possible - I`ll be in a field somewhere but if anyone wants a cuppa around s.w. London, or help with a van just get in touch...
