Just a quick one so others can learn from my mistake. If you are thinking of "upgrading" to a monza aftermarket exhaust..... Dont bother! Stick with the original stock exhaust. I have recently fitted a monza to my 1600, firstly it looks alright, but there no way someone can live with the amount of noise this exhaust produces! I wanted to improve the system and driving experience not make it worse. I will no be taking it off and replacing it with a stock system.
Proper Monza's were in fact good exhausts. Empi Monza's are indeed Marmitee. You might as well change it now; it'll be rusty in 3 weeks anyway.
There are other solutions ... none quite as cheap as a Monza. Some of them beat tying a squished coke can to the exhaust too. More power . More noise. Deeper note. But none quite like putt-putting with a stock exhaust.
Haha this post is funny, reminds me of a Cherry Bomb exhaust someone gave me when I had my first car, 1200 basic Beetle! I worked shifts then , left the house at 06:00 am, well it lasted 2 days!!
Not cheap but will last for donkeys years and not ear bleeding loud Less restrictive than the stock exhaust aswell and you retain the manifold heating for the carb https://www.vwheritage.com/shop/bay...l-t2-1600cc/?crumbStartPage=1&crumbStartRow=1
Monza's are Shi te!,They make your engine run slower and hotter, rust like an 80's Alfa Romeo, and sound cra p! S/S quiet packs are the best exhaust investment EVER!
