Mobile phone insurance LSG AVOID!

  1. Just a little rant ;)

I'm with lloyds tab and have a gold account, and for that I get aa breakdown mobile phone insurance and other bits and pieces for a respectable £12 a month.
I've paid this for years and only used the aa a few times. And never the phone insurance.... Until now

Sent my iPhone off for repair February 10, for a crack screen repair, it came back fixed... 2 and half weeks later :( it was fixed but they batterey died at 50 percent (never had that problem before)
Checked the imei Number and it was different so I'm guessing they had just replaced mine with a refurbishment.

Sent it off a second time. 2 and half weeks later they sent the phone out to to me. Different imei number, but same batterey problem.

Demanded to speak to a manager and explained that this is a ridiculous service and want a brand new replacement hand set....they agreed.

Spoke to them this morning (been waiting 3 weeks) they can't find my phone and they will need to find it until. They can issue a replacement.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. UNLESS YOU LIKE BEING MUGGED OFF

My phone is very important to me for work and other things, the service has been ridiculous

  2. Zed

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Spending money on the type of insurance that's regularly defrauded is asking for a fight if you need to claim. Mobile insurance is famous for this. Stick to your guns and cross your fingers, or save on premiums, put it down to experience and fork out for a new phone. :(

  3. I avoid all forms of insurance and extended warranty like the plague, theres too many get out clauses and shoddy service like you have seen. I've made a sort of mental note of what all the premiums would have cost me over the years and I can tell you its not worth it, when something breaks I replace/repair it and remind myself how much money I have saved over the years not buying this stuff, most of the premiums go in commision and admin costs. The only insurance I have is for my vehicles, house and life, I think my bank account covers travel insurance, apart from that I dont bother with any of it. Consider it as a form of gambling which you are unlikely to win in the long run. If people thought about like going into William Hills and saying I'd like to bet that in the next two years that my new gadget will fail at 2:1 odds, then when is does fail they try to wriggle out of it or mess you around when paying out, you'd think differently about it.
