  1. Hi all.

does anyone know anyone who has a mobile business and could do a helicoil? We are in North Manchester.

  4. There is no black art to helicoiling.
    Drill, tap, insert, snap tang
You dont even need the helicoil insert tool, a modified screw will do.

  5. ^this. The MachineMart kits are good. Easy enough to do yourself.

  6. I was servicing the family punto and noticed one of the engine mounting bolts was not flush with the head. So I thought I would nip it up. It would not nip up. The thread has obviously been damaged somehow. It must have been like that since new. We have had it since new. Its 6 years old nearly now. There are three other bolts so its not too bad. M8 in size. I am pretty sure you can get a drill in there.

  7. Bit scary as its the cylinder head.

  8. Just a piece of metal. Broken studs?

  9. Its not a broken stud. I can get the bolt out, but it wont tighten. It is just an M8 machine screw. I reckon it has been over torqued in the factory. It has never been touched. There is no reason why it should have been.

If it’s into ally, it’s very easy to drill and helicoil, if you’re worried do the drilling with a pair of grips, can’t go wrong

  11. As above, get yourself an M8 kit from MachineMart, or similar. Pretty straightforward to do, honest.
