Missing my late bay

  1. I put my van away for the winter about 3 weeks ago in a local farmers warehouse, and to be quite honest i was looking forward to having a few months with her out of the way so i could save up some cash and maybe spend some money on myself for a change. It seemed as though, as i am sure many of you feel, i was constantly shelling out for something or worrying about something. So a few months of having nothing to worry about sounded good to me

Now i've had a very up and down year. Over the winter the van was restored with a fresh lick of paint and a new interior and so i was looking forward to some good get aways in the spring and summer. :) However in June after camping over the Jubilee weekend i was heading north up the M6 tootling along at 55-60 when the left rear wheel decided it didnt like the direction i was travelling and fell off (came away from the hub). Luckily it didnt bounce down the road but got stuck in the wheel arch. So off to the garage on a big yellow taxi we went. :(

A couple of weeks later oil decided that the best place to be wasn't in the engine and so after another couple of 'short' trips away a lengthy stay getting the engine rebuilt was needed.

I got paranoid about the van and seemed always to have a timescale where if it wasn't being used i was waiting for it being fixed or planning days where i could tinker, which meant it was always on my mind.

It's been away for 3 weeks now and for the first week it was great as if a weight had been lifted off my shoulders but now i feel lost and bored. I've already made a list of stuff i want to do with it in the spring but as i don't have a drive or garage it has to be locked away until then.

Bugger Christmas. I want my van back!!

i know how you feel - even though mine is on the drive it's sorn so i can't use it, i have got to sneak it to store on dec 23 and i'll spend a fair few of my xmas holidays working on it like i did last year, i can't do much on the drive as it's too cold and dark and wet, can't wait to get it inside and start messing!
