Took the carbs off last night ,the floats were set right and the valve was working correctly and all the jets are the ones recommend by way out westie . There was a bit of dirt in the float bowl so cleaned it all and blasted it all through with the air line . no detectable air leaks ,Reset everything and it seems to be running better but I can take no1 or no3 plug lead off and nothing changes but it doesn't sound like it's running on 3 cylinders ! I've turned in the idle screw 1/2 a turn but now struglng to tick over . Not there yet but heading in the right direction (I hope )
Yes took them all out and cleaned them , I think I just need to up the idle a bit then re balance them and see from there . On the plus side it goes much better now ,it actually feel like it's accelerating !!!!
What engine is it? I found Wayoutwestie’s recomended jetting for a std 2.0 type 4 too rich. He recommended 165 mains 185 airs. Mine runs better on 155 mains 175 airs. So might be worth a bit of experimenting.
It's a 1600 twin port. I've got 145 mains, 165 airs, 55 idles, f3 emulsions, 150 float jets, which is what he recommends so I think I just need to tinker with them for a while. I borrowed a snail meter so the endless balancing after every adjustment isn't so bad.
Took the manifolds off tonight ,drilled and tapped them ,fitted a balance pipe . Put it all back together and ....... Ticking over nicely on all 4 cylinders . thanks for all your help Cam
