Mig Welding

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by kenward, Nov 29, 2013.

  1. Going to do a bit of welding on the bay (mig) and want advice on best wire thickness to use, i am guessing 0.6 mm? i have 0.6 & 0.8

Also what is the most common thickness steel people use for body/floor repairs

    Thanks

  2. 0.6 for body work, 0.8 for chassis (just my preference)
I use 2mm sheet for the chassis and 1mm sheet for body. you could probably go a bit thinner but I'm a bit agricultural in my approach to things.
if you're close to a steel merchants it's handy to buy a big sheet and keep it in a nice dry place or cover it with zinc primer.

  3. Agree with above :)

  4. Thanks Guys, nice to confirm these things, great Forum.
