Midlands and Staffs folks help with a good cause this weekend

I am in dordon, heading off at about 0955 or 1000 was going to go up the a51 though rugeley. Where would be best to meet up

No way i am in Atherstone just down the road!! ;D I don't mind as i will be coming down the a5 then the same way up the a51. I think i will go up to the last junction before the weeford island?

 

well you two decide where on the a51 you wanna be and ill meet you there, how about if i wait on the texaco garage (wishing well) between lich and rugeley? we can do a right at the roundabout and go into stafford down the new bypass past the power station

Moley do you know the two petrol stations on the a5 in dordon opposite each other, we could meet there at 0955, we can then meet up with rick i guess it will be about 0935 when we get to you

met a lad with a bay local to me today, says he will come so fingers crossed.

 

oh, and i've burned a cd with the gnome song on 9 times just to play on repeat.

 

just found out the Texaco garage on the A51 isn't Texaco anymore...it's now a car sales only, still looks like a garage though and i'm not hard to spot in a Brown van......keep your eyes peeled on your left coming from Lichfield it's just after the Longdon area as you head into Brereton, i'll be there plenty of time before you i guess.

 

just back from this do, was quite a sobering experience hearing the guys story (Gary) took a few pics, will upload later.

 

here we go with a few pics from today and a brief story of the small convoy in, Met Pete from earlybay and moley76 from here and drove in to stafford, Midlife was there waiting along with a couple of others, the chap who organised this (sorry forgot his name) gave us a brief outline of Gary and the illness he has (which i'm not gonna elaborate on) and explained to us that it would quote "make his life, let alone his day"...we all waited round until 11am when Pete took Garys mate off to fetch him for what he thought would be a ride in a van...he didn't realise 13 vans were waiting to meet him..he arrived and looked over the moon and spent the time to look round everyones van and seemed totally engrossed and regailed all of us with his dream to own one which he doesn't think he now will, we spent a good couple of hours with him before he got too tired and had to leave and slowly a few of the vans drifted off, Garys mate then took all of us for a drink and thanked us all, this guy is a top man and Gary is lucky to have such a kind and decent man as a friend, after he made sure we had a drink we chatted to him for a while before he too left, the remainder of us made the best of the weather and owning a van and we all went for chips and chat by our vans, a great day was had by all and it was an honour to do a small thing to cheer a man up, thanks to Pete for inviting us and good luck to Gary in the rest of his life. Here are a few pics of the vans and just because it's the law a small video so the late bay guys signature tune was heard.....

Thanks for those that came and also for the great company, i personally was proud to have made a guy very happy by just spending a few hours of my day driving my van and talking to like minded people.

 

Not much more i can say that ricky has has no expressed already other than to offer my thanks for all you help , it was a great day. I dont really know what to say about this communities generosity, top group of people great to meet you all. thanks again

I would like to say it was a pleasure to meet a load's of great people and especially to make someone with such a passion as gary he was a lovely bloke and it is such a shame, and it was a first run out in our van and our first meal in it even if it was sausage and chip's! ;D
